Using TJ wheels on a JK

About a year ago I sold my LJ and purchased a JK. Sooner rather then later I will need to replace the tires on it. I have a basicly new set of 35x12.50x17s BFG KM2s on AEV Pintler beadlock wheels. I have a lot of money wrapped up in these tires and wheels and hate that Jeep changed to the bolt pattern. I know it is not ideal but do you think it would be crazy to run adapters from Spidertrax to convert the bolt pattern? I know that they will stick out more then they should if I was running JK Pintlers.

Here are some photos since people like photos...

I'm not a fan of spacers/adapters myself, but a lot of folks run them with no problems.

I would say, if you can't sell the wheels you have and buy new ones with the proper lug pattern, without taking more than a $200-$250 dollar hit, than run the adapters.

Figure the adapters run about $250 for all 4 tires?

If you can sell the old and buy the correct ones without having to shell out more than $250 extra (cost of new adapters), I would personally go that route.

I agree that spacers are not perfect but as you said a lot of people use them and I would go with a well known company. That fact of life is that usually you dont get what you have in aftermarket parts back out and with bulky things like wheels shipping would get really expensive.

No it will look horrible and ugly. I will glady take those wheels from you for my LJ and charge you nothing to keep from making a mistake..... :sombrero:

Like I said, I have a small fortune in those wheels so I doubt I will be giving them away. Even if I was able to sale them for 200 dollars a piece thats still a losing 500 dollars.

I would just re-mount the tires on some 17x9 JK wheels and sell the AEV wheels, they fit many Jeeps and would be easy to sell. Given the fact that new spacers are roughly $250 a set you would only be losing $250, I'm sure you have lost a lot more than that just by buying a newer Jeep every few years.

I've been running 1 1/2" spacers on both of my Jeep's for years, rarely even give them any thought. I couldn't tell you the last time I heard of a spacer failure.

I was going to post up pics of my jeep with the adapters and the wheels you have, but you beat me to it. Lol glad I could help.

I do like the fact that the aev jk wheels have the tires sucked in more than running the adapters and TJ wheels.

All this said, the jk wheels could stick out a 1/2 inch or more up front for my use. There is a bit more tire rub at full lock than I would like. If your running 35s you should not have the same issue.
If they are pushed out farther like with the adapters you end up with rubbing of the rear wheel well opening as I recall. But it's been about a year since that setup, so I don't recall specifically.

At the end of the day, just get the jk wheels. Selling the TJ wheels shouldn't be a problem. Heck I need to get mine sold.

Selling definitely won't be an issue.. AEV just announced they're discontinuing a lot of their TJ line, including their wheels.
