There is truth and fiction in the posts above.

Bryce will not be snowed in.
All locations mentioned can be seen within the given time. Not to their greatest grandeur but they can still be seen. As long as your friend realizes no matter where he decides to go he will only see a portion of it- he will have a great time.

March 2007- I did this trip with my son for his spring break. Gives you an idea of what can be seen in a limited time.

We do a trip like this every year. :victory:

Photoman, thanks for sharing those photos. Looks like a great trip! I love the shot of you and your son, it's not the best of that gallery photographically, but it means the most to me. Edit: Wow! I just went through your smugmug site. Amazing work. I really enjoy looking at your photos.

FWIW, my own experiences in Bryce in March (most recently in 2008) where very different than your own. This photo was taken right outside of Bryce, along Hwy 12

Thanks for the comments on the photos and the site. Much appreciated.

Like your shots with your kids too. Those end up being the most memorable don't they?

I wasn't saying there wouldn't be snow in March but Bryce will be open (unless there is a huge storm the same days he is going). Besides if he is lucky there will be snow! The best shots of Bryce are ones with snow caps on the formations. :ylsmoke:

Thanks for the link photoman- great shots! I'll pass this thread along as it's got some great info. What filters do you use mostly out there, my guess would be a circular polarizing and/or some graduated filters.

Sorry for the double post,

I linked this thread in an e-mail so my friend could read along. I think he's leaning toward the staying closer to SLC idea with the time limitations he will have so suggestions in say a two hour loop from SLC would be great.

I'm also mentally planning a trip for myself to shoot some of these amazing places I am seeing, you guys out west sure have us east coasters beat on amazing photo ops.

I am not real familiar with the area having only been there once but here is a short list I would consider.

The Great Salt Lake-
Antelope Island
Spiral Jetty

Mountains to the East of Salt Lake-
Several possible loops through them. Lakes- Mountain Vistas- Rivers- Waterfalls
Check out Google Earth and then search Google or Smugmug for additional images.

Even if you are not LDS- the Temple is a pretty cool site to see and some photo ops day or night. There is also an old Catholic church about a mile from there. Pics in the link I attached earlier.
