Very Cool Camper Build Thread

I'm a member on another forum that is related to the manufacturer of our Travel Trailer (Sunline Owners Forum)

There is a thread going that is pretty cool over there. A guy bought an old Pop-Up that had water damage and tore it apart. He's in the process of building up a new trailer on the frame and using as many of the older parts that he could salvage.

He has a ton of photos and detailed specs on how he's going about it. I know a bunch of us on here always talk about building our own Adventure Trailers, and I thought this might give everyone some ideas to copy if you do ever decide to go ahead and build one of your own.

Here is The Link

It would be pretty cool to lift the thing just a touch higher to give it some more ground clearance and change the approach and departure angles, and I'm thinking it would be an awesome Overland Trailer

That's a really cool project. It takes a ton of time to do that!

It reminds me of my trailer project.
I bought an old Cox pop up trailer, stripped it to the frame, raised it 6" and turned it into a utility trailer.

Pretty cool considering I paid $75 for it. :bike_rider:

Thanks for the link, Pat. It's impressive to have a build discussed in that much detail so as to be useful in many ways to a wide range of other projects.

Yeah Mike, that's why I thought it would be good to link to it.

I know the two guys who are talking back and forth so much in that thread, and I like to tease them because its comical to get a couple of Engineers around arguing over a few inches fore or aft on the placement of the axle

You should see the emails they'll send me when I'll post something on that forum about moving to a different fridge which is a few hundred pounds heavier than the stock one.

They'll send me an 8 page email about how its going to change the dynamics of the way my camper tows. I just laugh and say "Oh, I never thought of that, but thanks"

When I tell them that I lost one of my sway bars over 50,000 miles ago and I'm too broke to buy a new set, they'll send me a 4 page letter on how I'm going to get in a wreck due to towing without sway control

Some overthink things, some just hook up and go, but I thought maybe someone on here could gain some info off all those calculations:elkgrin:
