If anyone can answer that, these guys can.

Just take a look at their website, and if your questions are not answered, they'll be happy to help you out. Good group of folks.

There are a small group of HTs and mobiles that are "bluetooth ready". I expect that before long, bluetooth or its replacement will be common for all mobile transmissions. There are amateurs all over adapting the technology to their needs.

The Yaesu VX-8R is a Bluetooth capable radio. Use it to talk back to the vehicle. Combine that with a cross band repeater for longer range comms.

I use a VX6R + Motocomm wired headset in my helmet. Works great.

Ask Scott Brady about our technical difficulties with his VX8R and squelch settings... We were ready to throw the dumb thing out the window... :D

Look for a Yaesu FTM10SR

The radio I just put in my Jeep was originally designed for mounting on a motorcycle...
The Yaesu FTM-10SR
Completely water proof, shock resistant housing.
Head is designed to mount to the handle bars and works as the mic too.
They were discontinued last year for a new 50 watt version... the 10SR is only 10 watts... but enough for reaching most repeaters in urban areas.
They had great close out deals on them including the hand held mic just last spring... you should still be able to find one on one of the Ham web sites.
