Viair 85p

Thinking about buying a small cheap compressor until I can afford one to install under the hood. Does anyone know if a 100 series will have enough power a Viair 85P? Apparently it needs 14.5 amps. I think it should work but want to hear from the experts, What say you?

If it's got gator clips to attach directly to the battery you will have no problems.

The main concern with cigarette socket accessories is that the startup current is quite high and can blow the fuse. To lower the possibility of a blown fuse, the trick is to plug in, then turn on with the hose not attached to the tire. This will give it a gentler startup. Also, know that the fuse is rated 15A. A bigger fuse won't help because the socket doesn't like putting out continuous high current. I'd save it for the phone charger or gps.

For years I have used an MV50 (or smittybilt or any other similar looking compressor) with good results. These always attach directly to the battery, and make reasonable amounts of compressed air.

Thanks- I pulled the trigger on the 88p and am going to change out the alligator clips for the battery attachement.
