Vision X HID's

Installed a pair of Vision X 6500's on my rig this weekend. WoW they are freaken bright!!!!! And the fit / look perfect IMHO. I can't stand the look of HELLA 4000's and Lightforce 240 Blitz.. they look too big for the bumper!! Anyways... here's a couple shots... they're the most affordable HID offroad light out right now, they have the shallowest depth of most lights and the ballast is built into the housing.

Very nice!

How is the beam pattern? More specifically, how wide of a pattern does it put out at 100 yards? Is it fairly narrow or pencil to just the road or does it light up the a good amount of the surrounding area?

I got them at my local desert racing shop www.mckenzies.com

I'll let you guys know on the beam situation. I haven't had a chance to drive it at night yet. I'll take some night shot comparisons too.

Hey Pete

These are available in both a Euro and a Pencil beam pattern, just like the Hellas! Only better! :D

These are a very nice light

For some reason the HID's come up really weird on the digital camera. They don't seem bright at all. Trust me though, in person you can tell the difference.

Ok, here goes the comparison photos. It's really really hard to tell anything from these pics.. i know i could have just drove up to a dark brick wall.. but i wanted to show something different.

Sidenote: I haven't adjusted the angle or the direction of any of these lights yet.

what kind of beam pattern do you have? It's hard to tell from the pic. What's the color temp of the HID? Looks blueish, 6000K?

You know, I have a pair of Hella Rallye 4000 eurobeams with 100 watt bulbs on my bumper now, and I'm totally not impressed by their performance. They're a somewhat brighter upgrade from the Hella 500 driving beams I had before, which were a total joke, really. Granted, the mounting system and wiring is nice, but the beam pattern isn't terribly great and they really aren't that bright compared to my stock headlamps with 80/100 watt Hella bulbs. Definitely not $250 worth of light, IMO.

I'm going to throw on a set of IPF 968s I have sitting in the closet, with their 100 watt bulbs. I'm not expecting great things from them, but I'm curious if their beam pattern is more useful.

These Vision-X lights look like they throw a wider, more evenly-distributed beam down. That's really great if so.

Interesting, I'm pretty happy with my cheap DayStar that came with my light bar. The are Hella 4000 clone I think, with 55W bulb in them. They compliment the 80/85 Hella headlight I've perfectly. When I was driving at night in Death Valley, with DayStar, headlight and fog all on I have great side spill, close beam and the great long distant beam from the DayStar. I think my DayStar is not quit spot beam but it does not have much side spill. When I have the DayStar and headlight on at the same time the DayStar fill the center of the beam and point it far up the road. Driving a 60mph, I drive slow, at night on 2 lane highway I never feel I out run the light. Your 80/100 Hella is pretty hard to beat for headlight setup. Which part on Hella 4000's beam pattern is lacking?

The HID's are Euro beam. The color is a blue/purple even though in the pics they look green for some reason.

For reference, most factory HIDs are in the 5000 Kelvin to 6500 Kelvin range.
Lexus uses 4300K, at least in my wife's IS300. It does not have the typical blue tint seen with HID.
