VT Overland, Village to Village Class IV Roads trail ride.

Took a ride up to VT this past weekend with some fellow NJ jeeps to participate in the Vermont Overland's Village to Village tour via Class IV roads. Was a great time, Peter and his crew did an excellent job guiding, and being tour guides! Not sure how many miles of trail be actually covered, but we hit the trail around 9:30ish and ended around 6:30-7, so it was a full day of great trail riding, we can't wait to go back again for another ride.

So enough of my babble, on to the pics, the lighting was tough, especially with the bright colors of the Jeeps, and we didn't have any filters with us, so we did the best we could.

Our trail mechanic for the day, Rodney in a really trick YJ. It sports a LS1, coil spring suspension, and a clutch less manual transmission.

That van looks HUGE! Is it really that much bigger that all the others or is it just the picture? If it is that much larger, how did she handle the trails?

Yup, it's huge, I think James said it weighed close to 11,000lbs! In that pic he's using both front and rear winch's to keep the sheet metal straight! It handled the trails quite well, most of the day it was using only 2wd as it was having problems with it's locking hubs. Definitely a cool rig!

Nice trip, great time with great folks, what more can you ask for.

You forgot one! GREAT FOOD and BEER! VT has some great mom and pop type places to get some great home cooked meals, and some great breweries. We took advantage of all of the above!:coffeedrink:

It was a fantastic time. What I really loved about the trip is that it was yet another example of, if I may borrow a term from Scott B, "overland community." Unlike most off-road clubs and large scale events based on a single marque, overlanding is less about the make of your rig and more about sharing the experience of vehicle-based travel with others who are equally passionate. Granted, Vermont Overland is doing this on a rather intimate, local scale, but it's still no less an example of the varied but unified community we call overlanders.

Props to Peter, Jamil and tail gun mechanical support Rodney for a well guided trip. Vermont is outstanding in every way on and offroad. The group we had was fairly diverse and i enjoyed everybody's company..

Looking forward to more overlanding in VT..!
