The best you can do if find a mid-80s unit and import under the 25 year rule, or you can buy one in a country that sells those trucks and just use it for traveling, never permanently importing it to the US.

Easy, import it. 25yr rule applies, ie it has to be 25yrs old or older.

It is easy really. I imported a truck last June. Just get ready to pay a lot to import it and if going through the trouble, I would seek out a LHD Cruiser.

Cheers

How can I get my hands on a LandCruiser TroopCarrier out here in the States?

$$$$$$$$$$$.

Comb e-bay, craigslist, etc...they pop up every now and then. There are some importers such as Vintage Offroad

But for the same money, you can get a newer/better performing vehicle...the sheet metal does look cool on those Troopys though.

Or have Aqulu build you a body to fit on a modern chassis, such as a 80 series or such.

They have a 4 Door version already and a Troopy

I would steer clear from vintageoffroad.com if I were you, many, including myself have had major issues with their business practices.

well...I was trying not to say anything. ;)

If a person really wanted one is what I was saying.

I would go the Aqualu route myself, and a 80 chassis...or *gasp* (i'll probably get flamed for this) on a Tacoma chassis since the dimensions are closer...

then you'll get IFS, rack & pinion steering if you go the Taco hybrid route.

:lurk:
