Another vote for the diesel pickup of your choice and a slide in camper.
I question the motive for the world traveler vehicle. How much travel do you anticipate over seas vs in the US? Fuso parts may be available world wide, but I'll bet you have a hard time gettimng them in the middle of no where in the US.
I had a cab over GMC W4(Isuzu) with a 5.7L GM gas engine in it and a service body when I was an Allison Transmission Field Service Tech. Sitting over the front tire beats the snot out of you. I prefer the ride quality of a pick up truck.
