Want To Rent Trailer

Hello forum members,

My wife and I are looking for a new place to live. We currently live in Los Angeles and are trying to visit different places all over Northern California, Oregon, and Colorado. We're thinking a 2-3 week trip. We are looking to rent a tear drop trailer, a off road trailer, or I think last on our list a roof top tent.

I know that there are a few companies to rent these from but a 14-16 time period is pretty expensive. Open to ideas and we would be very responsible. Let me know if anyone would be interested in this idea. Our time frame is some time in January.

Thanks so much.

Off The Grid rentals has a sweet teardrop for rent. http://www.rentoffthegrid.com/ but its not cheap.

I have a simple off road trailer that you could borrow, but it doesn't have an RTT. It has tracks on the lid that you could easily mount an RTT system to (my buddy has borrowed it and done exactly this with it). However, the paint on my trailer has disintegrated, so cosmetically it looks a bit rough. It really needs a new nose box. It does not have any interior electrical or lights, so no onboard fridge (I always kept that in the vehicle). It currently has new 33" BFG AT's on 17" Jeep Rubicon wheels. It has brakes, but I don't have an electronic brake controller, It only weighs about 1,000 lbs, so I never felt it needed one, but I have tested it with a borrowed brake controller and it works fine. It has an onboard gravity discharge 20 gallon water tank (great to prime the NEMO shower), plus room for three jerry cans and an LP gas canister. It has a MAX coupler, so all you need is a standard 2" receiver.

Here are photos of mine, taken prior the current tires and disintegrated paint job:

Thank you for the offer, I will get in contact with you if that works. I think we're most in need of a tent kinda situation and I don't have one of those.

Well heck, you can rent tents all over the place. REI has a pretty good inventory of rental tents. I recommend the Hobbitat or BaseCamp.

I mean more enclosed tents on a trailer. Not a great time of year to travel up North with snow and what not so more of a dry basecamp of sorts with the advantages of a trailer. Like a rooftop tent or teardrop or something.

thanks

With the borrowed offroad trailer you could buy a used rtt for less than a 16 day teardrop rental. mount it and go. you could probably sell the rtt for about what you paid for it after the trip or keep it for the future.

Good notes team. Thanks for the insight. Thinking of going another direction but all good ideas.

thanks

If you go the route of a regular tent, def go with REI. Tents wear out, so that is an item that is worth buying new from rei, as their unconditional warrantee is worth it. They have reduced returns to 1 year after purchase. Get a marmot limelight 3p for $279. I love mine! Amazing tent!!!!!!! Includes footprint, while most companies sell seperately for $60-$80 more.
