I am looking for a 2nd gen 4runner to do an Expo vehicle build.
Anything well maintained would be considered.
Obviously, a 4runner, 5sp, e-locker combination would be a dream...:sombrero:

Just an FYI, '99-'00 would technically be a 3rd gen, which actually started in '96 - might help your search with a bigger year range.

It's a good choice, mine just turned 207k...

Yep, '99-'00 would be a 3rd gen.

I bought my '99 2 years ago this week and am pretty pleased with it. I shopped for a while and looked at close to 50 4runners before I bought mine. The one I ended up with was the only 5 speed 3rd gen I found and happened to be a highlander edition. Just before Christmas I finished my e locker swap so once I get my tires I should be happy for awhile.

Here is a little glimpse of what I've got. I'd take your time and shop. I picked up mine for $10k in California with 84,000 miles.

My bad. I should have known better. 3rd generation is what I am looking for. :costumed-smiley-007

99/00 4runners with the 5speed are pretty rare, and finding one in good condition with the elocker is very difficult. I eventually gave up on the elocker and picked up a 00 Sport 5spd with gray interior, moonroof, and only 82k miles for a little over $8000.

5spds seem to be more common in Colorado, probably due to the fact that a lot of people there own 4runners in general.

Good luck with the search.

Hey Matt,
I can make you a screaming deal on a '99 housing to mod for an elocker. I was able to do mine at my leisure and minimize my down time due to an extra housing. Once it was in I copied Ken's wiring to finish it all up.
