Wanted: 4x4/AWD VAn

On my recent trip to Mexico, my beloved 4runner got totaled by some drug runners in a pretty sever car accident on the highway... Thankfully we are both okay. Now I am in the market for a 4x4 or AWD cargo or passenger van! Looking to modify it in a camper setup to be my home between seasonal jobs. Top end of my budget is around 10k so I have money left over for a camper setup, mods, or repairs. Not looking for a Powerstroke 6.0 and hesitant about a gas guzzling V10. Been searching all over the internet for a rig. Missed my chance on 1 or 2 and just hoping something will fall into my lap and someone has one that is not advertised right now.

Hey Andrew,

I've been seeing number of AWD Chevy Astro Vans for sale in the Utah area lately. Check Craigslist and other auto classifieds there. Haven't seen any full size awd/4wd (Express/E-350, etc) that would be at $10k or under (that's a tough price point), but if you don't mind the slightly smaller van size all the folks I know who have Astros like them a lot. Good luck, and dare I ask how the Mexican drug runners flipped your rig??

4x4 Chevrolet Sunrader.

Andrew,

Sorry to hear about your Toy, glad no one was hurt. I once had one of those nuts play chicken with me down in the Copper Canyon.

If a truck / camper combo would interest you, check out the following;

I am cleaning up my Chevrolet Sunrader 4x4 that I took down to S. America. I should have it ready in about a month and will be listed it for sale on this site. ( One hour south of San Francisco. ) Note: Since the pictures at Photobucket were taken all of the fiberglass repairs have been made, front window resealed, all new insert trim, new shocks, brakes, and other items that will be listed in the offering in April. This is the rear door Sunrader and it is 18' from bumper to bumper and about 8' 7" tall. Price will be more than 10K but the camper will be ready to go. Stay tuned...

I don't know if you check your PM's or not but I sent you some info about my '94 4x4 E350 with 75k miles on a 7.3 IDI. It's in your price range.

Hey Andrew, I might have a rig for you and seeing that you are a Toyota guy it's right in line with your program. I will be writing up the post and taking pictures this week in preparation for listing my van. It's a 1990 Toyota HiAce, 4x4 and Diesel Powered. Only 49,000 original miles and built for surf and fishing trips to Baja. One of the cleanest Toyota vans around. I'll be listing it for $12,500, so a bit higher than your post mentioned but you won't have to spend another penny. It's ready to go...

The van is located in the Los Angeles area. Let me know.
