WANTED: 4x4 RV

4x4kayaker

Observer
I went down the same path as you. I owned a Sportsmobile and sold it last month for an 87 Toyota Sunrader 22rte 4x4!! I love the layout, just threw some new shocks on it and a badlands custom bumper! I miss the power of my diesel van but I'm in no hurry these days and repairs and maintenance much friendlier on the pocket book. I'll be kayaking and skiing the NW in retro style. I had my eye on a tiger in NY but my Sunrader surfaced in Portland and I'm a happy camper!! Check you have the rear full floating 1 ton axle, 6 lug. They recalled the earlier non floaters as axles were breaking, but I'm sure you're aware of it. Happy Sunradering!

Hi there! Congrats on your 'Rader purchase! We love ours. We're doing some pretty heavy repairs and modifications, including a new axle. She does have the replaced full float, but we're putting in a new axle with single 15" wheels instead of the 14" duallies. You can follow our build on our other forum thread: Toyota Sunrader rebuild.

Happy 'Rading!
