Figured the easiest way to put this beast in both places I want it to be is just get a second cord and hardwire it. Anyone have a cord laying around?

It's a standard cord, (C7/C8 or Figure 8 is the plug name) many laptop power bricks use it but with a 110v plug. I got one of those and cut the end off. I just can't remember if it's polarized or not.

Something like one of the below. But you can get them all over the place.

Ditto.

Anyone know a source for the opposite end of this cord that would serve as an outlet/socket? (not sure if it's male or female, as both ends seem to insert into each other)? I'd like to fabricate a panel that would allow me to "plug in."

The area I'd like to make my panel/receptacle isn't deep enough for a standard 12v auto socket, and I'm looking something that provides a solid, tactile connection that will stay put until I unplug it...

I used these to wire a "quick connect" for my edgestar (and other in-vehicle 12v toys)

IMHO RC car/Aircraft connectors are ideal for this application. I hate standard 12V DC auto connectors they rattle and have very high electrical resistance. Deans, Anderson power poles, or my new favorite the XT60. They are tough rated for 100s of amps and can be had cheap. hobbyking.com is a good place to get em cheap and they also have high quality silicone wire in a lot of different guages. Yes you do need to be able to solder but you can buy pig tails if that is intimidating.

Thanks! Might not work for the project I had in mind but those links give me all kinds of new ideas!

Someone posted in another thread... just a standard Alternator connector for the quick connect... that's what I used :)

I'd seen that as well - but I'm trying to make a panel almost like a wall outlet that I can plug into and unplug with one hand, and I don't want the 'paneled' side having connections dangling about.

Kind of like a power strip or a wall outlet, but on a smaller scale access panel in the vehicle.
