The type that you would see in an Elk camp or the like. Something large, at least 12x12 feet. If you don't have one, recommend where I should look for one. I really want something used, because these things are expensive new. Thanks,

Yessir, those are pretty much what I'm looking for. A "wall tent." I doubt they would want to ship them though, and I doubt I would want to pay shipping for something like that, lol. Thanks for the links.

Check with Reliable Tent here:

https://www.reliabletent.com/

They have a "hot deals" section that has wall tents from time to time for great buys. I bought my last elk tent from them and have been very happy with it. I think I got this one 7 years ago from them now or so. It's 12x14 with 5' sidewalls, in the heavyweight 14oz fabric with full sod cloth, zipper door, storm flap, had the stove jack moved to the other side, extra reinforced roof material added in down the ridgeline, full guy lines and tagouts all the way around, stove jack flap, extra buckles for the door inside and out, buckles inside and out to tie both doors open as well, all heavy ropes and 14" steel stakes for it. Had the aluminum frame cut in all one-piece lengths instead of multi-cut pieces like they normally do, and have the ridge length section cut in 3 sections for added support rather than just 2 like is standard for this size. The guys were GREAT to work with, price was awesome, then they called back and said that they found a small stain in the fabric that they were mostly able to remove but were going to discount my price if I still wanted it, or they'd make me a new one. I took the discount and kept the tent. It arrived a couple days later and I have no idea where that stain was. Sure enjoyed the added discount though! The tent has been great, excellent quality, great frame, I've been very happy with the purchase. It's 7 years old now and served me for the last 7 elk seasons where I spend 12-14 days in nasty weather to say the least. Also use it at random times throughout the year with and without my big wood stove depenging on how hot it is and if it's summer or not. My elk hunting partner liked mine so well he ditched his and bought a 12x16 from them. We now face mine to his with a ridgepole between us, then put his old 12x14 off the side and use it as a cook tent.

Sorry to ramble, elk hunting is a great place to be! Watch the nickle ads in your local papers and such, you might run across them from time to time. You get what you pay for though and a good Wall tent is definitely worth it's weight in gold. Pay special attention to material quality, how it was cared for and the condition it's in if you buy used. Watch for mold and mildew especially, and the smell it's in. They'll dry rot on you too depending on what they've been attacked with and how they've been treated. Reliable also sells various sealers, treatments and cleaners that can freshen them up again. I've used a few things on mine over the years that have worked well. They will discolor and stain with age and use, but pay attention to overall condition and quality. A good tent will last for years if it's cared for.

Best of Luck,

Mike

springbar tent. I have an Outfitter model and it's honestly the best constructed tent ever. It could last through huge storms and I'm looking forward to trying it in the snow.

Stays cool in the heat with the window open. Best of all - made in UTAH, USA!!

I swear you will be impressed. There are probably some for sale on Utah craigslist.

Kodiak Canvas is the only competitor that I know that is debated with springbar. I preferred made in USA with a very highly regarded customer service department.

I found a wall tent on Craigslist, and the guy is only about an hour away. Finally talked to him on the phone today, and it sounds like he's got just what I'm looking for. Thanks for all of the advice though. Those Springbar tents look very nice. I'm adding their site to my bookmarks right now for future dreaming, lol.
Regards,
-Dan
