Thanks for the leads. I was able to find an r380 in LA . It came out of a clean low mileage truck that had front end damage. It was a later transmission and had all the updates.
I will mate that to a freshly rebuilt transfer case and should be back on the road soon.
As a side note. When you chose a vehicle that is fairly unique (for a Disco at least) having to get a new or rebuilt 5 speed transmission can cost more then the trucks worth. If I had an automatic it would have been much easier and way cheaper to get it back on the road.
