Still no actual hard use. The trip I had planned got pushed back due to a couple sudden side quests. I plan to take it up the hill behind my place when my new battery cables get here to play with it some.

I will report that yes my Jeep is running higher engine temps, but it went from the bottom of the dot to the top, so like 3°s more.

Since you quoted me directly I'll respond but I don't want to muck up the OP's thread anymore so this is all I'll say. I am also an American business owner, though not in manufacturing. My business is also constantly challenged by non-American companies, though not China.

My point to the OP was that you can't escape buying from China fully, and on something like a winch that is A. expensive and B. rarely used, I went with the cheaper Chinese option. I am an overlander but not a rock crawler or hard core offroader. If I were, I would no doubt have a rebuildable, American made top quality winch. I know these types are the majority of your customers and I'm sure business is good.
I get where you are coming from, and I realize some things just are not made here anymore. I am going to avoid it as much as I can because I know the nations ambitious, and I have many friends that have escaped Communist nations, and have had first hand accounts of what that life is like from those who lived it.

I also said even though I may rarely use it I am always out alone with no other people or trucks, so a winch failing would put me to using the highlift or stranded. I'd rather pay the premium now because I can afford it more than using the jack as a winch again. I ended up going with the Comeup in the end because the Icelandic Artic guys use them, and I liked what I heard talking to the company office here in the states.

Cool, let us know how you like it. Steep prices for sure but looks like a great product. Paying whatever price you have to for your comfort level is a wise thing to do if you are out there alone.

Of all the winches and offroad vehicles I've had I've never actually used a winch for self recovery, only to pull trees down or out of the way and to rescue others, but I still prefer a winch. One use (self recovery) will more than pay for itself.

Let me be clear I don't just want an American made winch, I'm OK with that but I'm also ok with one made in the UK, Australia, Brazil, I just want to not support China as much as I can.

If I would like to spend $2000 or less, I would also not like to have to replace a steel cable with the synthetic it seems like a waste to me. Waterproof as much as possible, and dependable as can be. I spend most of my time off road by myself so I'm going to need this thing to work.

Gigglepin or RED's Explorer series.

At one time, the Superwinch's Husky Series was made in the UK and shipped to the US for "finishing". As you are probably aware, finding these details is quite difficult.

Well, a decision was made. I got the Comeup. I called the company and spoke with them a little. Parts and service shouldn't be an issue, if they are at any point needed or do become an issue I'll be sure to inform. So far I like it, but I haven't done any besides mounting and tensioning the hook so not exactly a fair review, but it looks good. View attachment 681439

Next on the list is how to remount the front plate since Iowa requires it, and I know most of the cops in the county. As I use it I'll update this thread so anyone searching can find info. There has been a lot of good info contributed by y'all in here already, thanks for that, it's appreciated.
ComeUp 9.5RS Seal Gen II on my Colorado for a couple of years now with no complaints. Its used much more around the farm than on the trails but has been solid. This winch is available through Chevy as a dealer installed option. My TJ has a twenty year old M8000 that's also been reliable but I've had to replace the solenoid pack a couple of times due to salt corrosion.

All this Anti China stuff is a joke, They haven't done anything to the US, Back in the 1940's it was Japan who attacked Pearl Harbour not China,

All this anti china stuff is Racist, Due to inflation and Wage rises American companies have 2 choices, They can either Go Bankrupt or stay in business by moving manufacturing Off Shore.

Just because a lot of US companies move their manufacturing Off Shore to china is not china's fault and the blame belongs to the US companies, It seems that a lot of the Top Brands around the world make their stuff in china, That's Geography Vs Profit, China can make and do make things a lot better than other places around the globe,

Classic example:-

Stanley/Aladdin Vacuum Flasks are now made in China and are better than the "Made In U.S.A. versions. and since they have been making them over there they now make the Ultimate in Vacuum Flasks,

The Best Cold Weather Boots in the World are made in China as are many cold weather products. The Best Cold Weather Parka's are made in China by an American Company, And the Best store bought Extreme Cold Weather Mittens in the World are made in Vietnam by an American Company and by History alone is the height of hypocracy, Yet China who has done nothing to the US is at the forefront of all this ill informed blind American Anti China Racism,

The bottom line is all the American and Canadian companies that are having their products made in China is a good thing because it is saving the Brand and in most cases keeping the brand American Owned.

It seems that people need to Wake up, there are 2 sides to every Coin.
Your entire post is opinion, yours of course and you are certainly welcome to it. As are other members here. But pulling the race card? Do you know what type of government China is? Are you familiar with thier labor laws? You might want to re think your opinion and apply logic. You may well be in favor of socialism and communism, all good bro. The OP just wants to buy as much American made product as is reasonably possible. THANKS OP!

I am not in to socialism or communism. And what ever type of government they have I really don't care, It's nothing to do with me and as long as they leave me alone all is right with the world so there is no need to drag politics in to the thread, Just because a person does not like a government or the rules in another country is not reason enough to use as an excuse for undermining products, I have seen American Warn Products fail equally as much as the cheap chinese versions, I have seen Rolex and Rolls Royce fail as well and Land Rover, Range Rover and Toyota, Infact many of the top brand products we all use on this forum fail. So failure of a product is not limited to only products from China,

This is not about Politics, Where would people be if China stopped exporting Iphones and Ipads and many other Cell phone brands,

I think people need to look beyond politics and stop using it as an excuse even moreso when those people realize that China has done them no harm in the first place, We all need to be a bit more tollerant in these trying times and stop finding people Guilty before they have even had a fair trial, I am sure many of us would not stand for that if it was us who were being targeted being found guilty just because someone does not like who runs our country.

I think the focus should be about the product not the politics of a Country.

I was going to stay quiet but you played the race card.

I guess it is ok with you the way the Chinese treats the people of Hong Kong? I guess it's ok with you for a country to imprison and execute people for speaking out against the country? I guess forced labor camps is ok with you?

I turned down a very high paying job as a project manager in China building a soft drink bottling plant for the simple reason I would not and could not support the Chinese government because of it's policies on human rights. I later found out that those that went were escorted everywhere 24/7 to prevent them from interacting with the common people. At first they were greeted by armed guards which eventually changed to men in suits. They would not confirm if they were hired by the company or they worked for the government. Most told me they felt like they were under house arrest. All weekend sight seeing tours was arraigned by the escorts. The escorts had complete control of where they went, what they saw, and who they talked to.

I have a friend that is an international service tech for a machine manufacturer. The Chinese had purchased 2 machines. They were installed and setup by this tech and when he returned a year later there were 14 machines all identical clones of the 2 original machines. Clones so much so that even the firmware code embedded had been cloned. Corporate thievery !!!!

Call me racist if you want to it doesn't matter to me what your opinion is of me. I do everything in my power to not buy anything from China. Unfortunately and sadly some items are not manufactured elsewhere in the world. Moving our tech offshore has bitten us in the ass as evident by the fact we are unable to manufacture automobiles without China made chips. Half finished vehicles being sent to dealers or sitting at the factories waiting on parts to complete.

Buy Chinese products all you want maybe some day your conscious will kick in and you will see what you are supporting. They maybe leaving you alone but your fellow humans are suffering. Your blinders are giving you tunnel vision and squeezing your brains.

Like I said it's nothing to do with me, I don't like what some folks over there are doing but there is bugger all I can do about it, They are not going to take any notice of what you or I say so whats the point in getting in a flap about it, They refuse the except copywright Laws and see nothing wrong in what they copy regardless of what the Item is,

Just like other companies around the globe china also has honest companies just trying to earn a living,

As you say some of our tech has been moved over that way, but it is either do that or another good US or UK or German etc Company ends up folding due to higher production costs, Sad but true, we can't have it both ways, but it does go to show that there are some good people over there who are working to keep our companies alive and well,

As for Hong Kong the UK was wrong to hand it back because the whole agreement turned out to be a pack of Lie's, and you are right about what is going on over there but the normal folk over there like you and me have to make a living, Sure I get angry about the copywrite theft but in order to stop that we have to stop sending stuff over there, They are never going to stop Coptwright theft but what can we do, My thoughts are is to stop all import from China Globally but for some reason no one has got the Guts to see it through and get the ball rolling.

You, like my wife, have your head buried in the sand about what is going on in the world.
