Water cans

My LCI cans came in. They have a slightly smaller footprint than the scepter gas cans that I have. That is actually good, because the gas cans are almost too tight in the basket that is going to be on my tire carrier. I got one water can in tan and one olive drab.

What's your impression on the LCI water can quality? Is it comparable to the Scepter?

I have nothing to base this off of except appearances, but they seem to be made of the same thickness of plastic as the Scepter gas cans. My understanding, and I might be wrong, is that it's a different mfr, but made to the same specs. For me, that and a cheaper price, makes it an easy choice. I would also say that for 97% of the people on here, including myself, these water cans will work.

One big feature of the sceptres is the plastic. I keep them full at home for emergencies. You can leave water in them for weeks without it picking up any taste. Most of the cheaper cans have a nasty plastic taste in less than 48 hrs. Especially if they get hot!

What do you use for the initial cleaning of the Scepter MWCs? My wife hates the smell they come with and when she's happy...

Threw a little dish soap in mine and shook it around and rinsed it out.

That being said after that "cleaning", I immediately then filled them and have had them storing for a little over a month now, with the intent of finding out if/how much they may hold smell/flavor. I think I'll crack them open this weekend and see how the water is holding up. I can report back if your interested.

So yeah the water does pick up a bit of smell from the new cans but I had the water stored way longer than what one need for a trip. I'm also sure this fades at some point in the can's life as I don't remember them ever having done this in the Army but those cans were far from new.

How was the taste?
