Water filtration system at costco

Stumbled across this at Costco.com. Little confused about what its actually doing, due to the obvious poor translation under the product details. Thought others may be interested.

The highly saturated sugar/syrup packet draws water from a less saturated water source (mud puddle) thru a perforated membrane where the perforations are large enough for the water molecule but too small for any contaminate.

These are very cool, and a great idea. The main drawback is that you cannot get water out of them, only the sports drink. You have to add the sports drink mixture for the forward osmosis to work. In a pinch, this is one heck of a system though.
