Very interesting! I have a friend who was in downtown Kobe for the BIG earthquake in 1995. He had to walk many miles to get out of the destruction an find any kind of transportation.

The two things he didn't have, and absolutely needed were a pair of shoes (he was in bed and got out of the buildeing barefooted). AND, a dust mask!

I'm putting some dust masks in my rig right now! I'd 4gotten about it for 15years!!!:wings::victory:

I'm looking at the items and it looks to me like you could put that backpack together for about $35. It would be even less if you scrounged items like the screwdriver and trash bags. The most expensive item on the list is the backpack itself, but a basic one can be had for less than $10. The second most expensive item is the water packets. Those run $5 for a 24 carton. The little radio costs $6. The handcrank flashlight costs $5. The rest of the items look like they would be free or only pennies. Am I missing something?
