Water pumps and hoses when do you replace them?

Truck is a 2015 f150 with the 5.0 v8 and 6r80 with 175000 miles.

My old truck is getting up there in miles and I have never touched the cooling system. I was planning to flush and refill it as maintianence. Since It is such a messy job I was thinking I might go ahead and replace the water pump and all hoses while I’m at it. I can get all ford OEM stuff for less than $300.

Is it crazy to replace this stuff if I have not had any issues yet?

I was thinking it would be better to do the work in my driveway than far from home on the side of the road.

You aren't doing wrong by doing this at that mileage. While I have flushed and refilled, and changed the a/c condenser, the only other thing I've done for engine coolant was i needed to do my thermostat and temp sender unit at the top front of my GMC 5.3, just a year older than yours

I'm at a buck 90, so i forsee this in my future

I don’t think it’s a bad idea, add a thermostat to your cart as well. I like slippery slopes for some reason so I’d likely do the radiator if planning on keeping truck into the 200k+.

I will probably do the radiator too but not sure which one to get.

Rock auto has a OEM raptor radiator for 250 and the heavy duty fans for 300 but still trying to figure out it they will work.

So many of todays engines with front covers that bury the water pump, its often a "while you are there" situation.

That said, if the pump is easy to access, if it isnt broke, dont fix it.
Id place more faith on a high mileage factory installed OE pump (that isnt leaking) over a garage installed parts store pump every day of the week.
For the most part, same goes for hoses. And at a certain mileage/age the hoses are essentially fused to the assemblies they connect to, preventing leaks.
Because of this, if you removed/disconnect them, replace them, and keep them for spares if they survive being removed. Also, do not use hose clamps. Use factory style clamps
