Water Tanks

I was thinking about something like this for my M416. my thoughts were of fabbing a stainless tank that bolts to the under carriage and using an on board air to pressurize the tank for showers and just a plain spigot for regular use. haven't put much more thought into it than that but I figure the entire width and length of the tub and a few inches deep would yield a lot of water but the weight of the water and tank would have to be factored into the overall plan of how the trailer will be setup. right now its just a stock trailer with the exception of a lift and 33s. so many things to think about in the buildup

I have also seen crude tanks made from daisy chaining a few sections of 6" PVC pipe sections. just another thought if you are going for something outside the box.

PVC is fine, as long as you are not drinking it. CPVC is what you want for potable water. Don't know if it is available in large sizes...

Thanks, I did not know that.

Who made it for you? Cost for the tank?

The tank was built from 3/8 welded poly by a company in Hollister, CA. I forget the name, but you can Google or PM me and I'll we if I can get the name.

Cost was about $250? IIRC.

Man, if that really works, that's a whole lot safer and easier (less rinsing to get the bleach taste out).
I have used it on my hydration bag with good results. I'd expect that for a tank of the sizes I'm seeing mentioned in this thread that it could take a full box for the larger ones. I'll be curious to read the results if someone does give it a try.

There's a plastic welder in Camarillo, CA somewhere. I had him build a windshield squirter reservoir for the YJ from Hell. FWIW the plastic welder kit from Harbor Freight is pert near worthless.

I have always used a bleach solution to clean it and for storage and then use the baking soda to freshen it up for use. I also heard that Daktari Ed covers the opening with gauze to keep the critters out yet let in fresh air and to completely dry it if you are so inclined.
