Waterproof adventure boot comparison

Just bought a new pair of boots to replace my worn Gaerne balanced oiled boot. They are called Alpinestar Scouts. I was looking at the Sidi Discovery, but they are now just billed as water resistant, and cost more.
I really love my Gaerne's, they exude quality, are super comfortable, and have stayed waterproof for 2 years.
I purchased the Alpinestars last week, did 25 miles of sigle track Saturday, 60 miles of dual sporting on Sunday. I found them to be warm, a little roomier, very comfortable, and so far extremely waterproof. They do not posess the quality of Gaerne, so I will see if the stitching holds up.

The Alpinestars are a little taller, and a little stiffer, good for support.

I stand a lot while riding, and use a lot of peg pressure, the Gaerne sole held up well.

I also walk through the woods a lot, scouting and building trail. Cheap $100 boots work for about 6 months, but I blow them out at the seams.
I will report back soon.

I had those Sidi's and sold them, they were ok but some people love them. I love Sidi's moto boots much more but my favorite boots are a BMW Adv waterproof boots that they don't make anymore (I got 2 pair before they were gone) but they do have some good new versions. My next fav are my Combat boots from Aerostich. Those babies are also made by Sidi but to Aerostiches specs and are super comfortable an have lasted like iron.
Good Luck on the Alpinestars, I have purchased and have raced with several of there boots, normally really good stuff but not the longest lasting IMO.
Keep the rubber side down & when in doubt, Gas it out!!!
Cheers

I had really wanted to get a pair of the Balance Oiled. I like how they essentially disappear when worn under pants. But after procrastinating, I got tired of wet feet and ended up buying the Sidi Adventures (non Gore Tex) because I could get them locally. Very happy with them except for the squeaking! But I do wonder if I would have been happier with the Gaerne Balance boots.

On a related note, I see Gaerne now makes the G-Adventure which is waterproof and around $250. Although not as subtle as the Balance, it looks like it may be a bit more protective.
