Wavebox Portable Microwave

240W output with vehicle power is used:Wow1:

You can buy a 700watt anolog micro and 1000watt inverter for less and get almost 3 times the performance. - I ran this set-up in my boat for a few years trouble free.

Generally a fine approach, and what I have in the Unimog. But the good-sized Sharp microwave I had ran flakey off the cheap inverter, though it runs fine off the Prosine inverter now used. Can't think of any way you could know in advance, but apparently not all inverter/microwave combinations will work perfectly.

That's disapointing :( I've got some Cabelas gift cards and was considering trying one of these.

Edit: It is only 240W when run from the power outlet in the vehicle. It is still 660W when run off the battery using alligator clamps.

I've got one, haven't used it much yet. I mostly got it so I can feed my finicky children. I also like that it is compact and has a handle so we can take it a motel room. I'm going to wire it to the battery with a quick disconnect.

I will most likely stick with my MSR cook stove for now, since all I mostly use it for is boiling water to dump in Backpackers Pantry food packs.......i like to travel as light and simple as possible. Although.......having a microwave on the trail would be pretty pimp for those good 'ole frozen burritos :sombrero:!

I just pulled the trigger on an Engel 35 fridgerator/freezer, so I will have to wait and see how much room I have in the back of the cab once that is mounted - I was originally thinking about fabbing up a clamp-on shelving system that would mount to my roll cage with the microwave under the fridge.....
