We finally have D1 Stainless Steel Cargo Panels!

I was thinking just a small shelf to go in the dead space. I like the the idea of being able to reverse the surface so that the grippy part can hold tools or small parts and keep them from rolling off the shelf. Then flip it over for a small cutting board.

Another cool feature would be some kind of clip on beverage holder :friday: I'm forever spilling mine trying to sit one down in the back of the truck when it's inevitably parked on an incline in some direction. :elkgrin:

You could go the Molle route with the rear door storage and save a lot of time (probably money, too). In the end, the outcome is about the same....

totally. I'm sure that particular system is highly functional and offers a high degree of customization. However, aesthetically speaking, that looks like a Big 5 store exploded in the back of the truck. Larry's system looks like it rolled out of the factory that way. I really like how it fits the contour of the door. :costumed-smiley-007 I imagine it would cut down on rattles, too, since there are fewer components to clang around on. The bags being clipped in only 4 spots onto that metal bracket might be tedious to get it all buttoned up.

Take a look at some D1 and D2 Rovers and take notice of the Subwoffer housing and/or the storage trey mounted to the rear cargo door. I've noticed these two options in a lot of trucks to either be scarred, cracked, or just totally busted. The reason is because when you close the rear door, that subwoofer housing or storage trey hits cargo loaded into the rear of the truck. This is not something done purposely, but it is a problem and it's probably the #1 reason folks remove these items in the first place. So that makes me wonder who thinks it's a good idea to stow their $600.00 fly rod/reel in this location.

I guess a solution such as this is convenient for smaller items such as paracord, flashlight, knife, lug-wrench, air gauge, etc.. I have a feeling the cost is going to outweigh the convenience, though. The product seems to be well made; IMO I think it's made for the wrong location. By putting these bags and its contents in this location, it will be as susceptible to damage as the subwoofers and storage trey are/were.

I definitely understand your point of view, however many folks are actually careful when closing the rear door because they know these things can happen. When I have my ARB sitting in the back and the truck fully loaded I am always conscious what the door might come in contact with. I've had the Stainless Panel on my door for over a year now and it has nary a scratch on it.

You have to look at things from other peoples perspectives and keep in mind that not all products are for everyone. Some will think it's ridiculous in the first place, others will decide they can do it for $10 and their time while others still will like it and won't mind paying for it. In the end their all right because they only need to justify it to themselves and not everyone else.

I get what you're saying. But it's not a universal truth. What about people with a cargo system and/or everything in the truck is stored in lashed down Pelican cases?
