By far that was the best info I have yet to receive, thank you. I am still going to do so more research but you have given me a great starting point. I would rather spend more now then buy something to get by; always seemed to be a waste of money.

I would have to agree with Randy also. I run the Icom 706 and it is nice while on the road or on the property in Montana. I can and do communicate from there back to Arizona via my mobile rig. I do not do a lot of HF and do not have a base rig yet so the mobile does it all in my case.

Took my Tech exam today, 10min and 100%...think I studied WAY too much!. Anyway guess I have to wait for my license to show up on the database, well that and until I decided on what radio to start with.

Handheld or Mobile? Feel free to offer any advise.

Mine got printed on Tuesday, mailed on Wednesday, at my house on Friday! Seven days from taking my test to actual license in my hand!
