I've always had a soft spot for the 4x4 Toyota toaster vans, just because they have 4lo, but they are small, so I don't know if you really could call them better...

Delica is would be compatible/similar....

L300 Gas / Diesel options...(Diesel little underpowered 22R power), Low range, fit up to 31" tires easily

L400 Gas / Diesel Options both lots of power Low range plus a high range full time option.


Syncro is a little bigger, engine and 4X4 systems need modification to be comparable in my opinion (but a 4x4 should be built not bought)...

Problem in the US is your silly import laws that you need 25 year old vehicles to import decent vehicles (even less free in the freedom, even us socialist Canadians get to import 15+ years old)

If I had the money I would buy up all the 1988-1990 Delica import to Canada, rebuild them for sale when they hit 25 years old to the US customers...
