Installed Currie Antirock front swaybar and Skidrow steering box skid and got the MTRs on. Have Ten Factory front axle shafts and Aussie locker sitting in the garage now.
Sent from my iPhone because I am to lazy to sit at the computer
Got my Smittybuilt rear bumper on this past weekend; needed some help from another member here to get the tire swing to work correctly but its g2g now.
i was tired of fighting her today, so i gave her love with a complete underbelly degrease, whole body scrub-down, and engine detailing - which then inspired me to take her to be buffed & waxed:
Made a heavy duty loom for the headlights, just waiting on the H4 sockets so I can put it in. Also replaced the bulbs in the driving lights with a 55W HID kit.
rolled over 322,000 miles so it hit the 5k mark since my last oil change. decided to throw in some engine restore stuff. my friend had told me great stuff about it. i was skeptical but tried it, and i have to say it did make a very big improvement. i thought it was in my head at first but i had my sister drive the jeep without telling her what i did and she said that the throttle response was alot better. the revs are alot smoother and it seems like it has more get up and go. also replaced the cap and rotor which could have a bit to do with it. still aloooooooooot more work and money to go till this lil jeep is in decent condition
second picture was meant to be rotated but i forgot and now im just to lazy so tilt your head for me
Today I put in a new set of Monroe "Gas Magnum" shocks. They came in their boxes in the back of the jeep when I got it. I had to snap off the rear upper mounts (very common) and put in new Grade 8 Hardware, but it all went pretty smoothly. I only broke one front bolt. Automatic Transmission Fluid is made of magic. I put it on the rusty nuts and bolts and though it was hard and stiff, I was able to remove all but one of the front bolts without breaking them.
Out with the old:
And in with the new.
And some shots of the rear:
And this is how it stand now:
I also took care of the rubber piece in the front that was hanging down. I just used some sheet metal screws and the holes that were already there on the underside of the Jeep to put "it's tongue back in it's mouth"
washed
waxed with traditional wax
waxed again with lucas oil speed wax
took off front fender flares and put them back on the right way
removed passenger side front endcap cause its uneven. i cant get it to go on even :/
popped the hood and cleaned a bit of the engine bay
moved some wires around to clean up the appearance
removed the horn/siren deal for the factory alarm (never worked right anyways)
got under it and tried to clean it up...gave up to much grease/mud caked on...
cleaned the spare tire up.
next on the agenda, study wiring diagrams and throw together home made engine harness so i can do a wire tuck and relocate the ECU and fuse box somewhere under the dash.
weld up the header (horrible exhaust leak)
compression check/fuel pressure check
u-joints/tires/brake job
rear main seal/ main bearings/ possibly new rings.....we shall see
today, I removed headlight bezel and grille, washed the bezels and painted them with good ole' Krylon Fusion: Satin Black. the grille had a crack so i got some plastic weld stuff (3.78 at wally world) and now it sits clamped down till tomorrow when i clean up excess weld with a razor blade then paint the grille and reinstall it all.
