What direction did you head when you outgrew your 4runner?

What about either a Ram Power Wagon or even a Ram 2500 Mega Cab? Both would offer more interior room, and both would tow your trailers with no issue.

Good thoughts everyone, thanks. Only a few more camping trips left before the snow start flying so it's a less pressing need. After borrowing a few buddies trucks and parking them in the garage I've come up with my tentative plan. The big trucks rock for trips and work. Less fun to daily and park in my garage. Thinking I'll keep the 4runner for my "rugged daily driver" (not sure who said it earlier but its accurate) and replace my old Tacoma with a crew cab full size.

I'll keep an eye open and wait for a deal. But a Super Duty and a topper would make for a great camping and exploring Alaska rig. After sitting in a my driveway with a beer, tire kicking and pondering for far too long I've realized that there is too much overlap between what my Tacoma can do and what my 4runner can do. Might as well make the extra truck that mostly sits fill a different niche.

Good luck in your search!

I have thought of finding a nice older 4Runner to daily and just using the Tundra for hunting, backcountry exploration, and towing duties. I’ve always liked the 4Runner platform.

Closing the loop: have a hand shake agreement to buy this once the owner is finished having his insurance fix some small body damage from a claim he opened months ago. f350.jpg

Decided to keep the 4runner as the daily. And, very sadly, my 1 owner 1st gen Tacoma that's been an extra truck since car seats entered my life 5 years ago will be replaced by this. Crew cab, gas, F350 long bed. If we fill this thing up camping I've got problems. But it'll tow anything I'll ever reasonably own, fit car seats when it needs to fill daily driver duty if a main vehicle is in the shop, and has all the features I'd pick if I went back in time and ordered it new.

I’ve definitely liked pickups. A wedge style camper like gfc would be great. Massive storage space. When I’m down to two kids I’ll probably go back in that direction. We’ve driven Suburbans for a long time. really versatile and smaller than you might think - shorter wheelbase than a full-size extended cab pickup. They’re a great choice if you prefer an SUV. With two kids, a Tahoe or Sequoia work well too. Lots of room without the 3rd row. 826734C9-9CEC-42C3-99EA-E6C49851F88A.jpeg
