What do you keep in your camper when at home?

Do you completely empty it out?
Keep just enough for a bare minimum camping trip?
Keep it fully loaded for extended trip ready to go at a moments notice?

Just looking for ideas :lurk:

Perishables are taken out, otherwise it's usually ready to go. I'll even go so far as to have the truck fuel/propane topped off immediately after a trip, that way I always have the fuel for my next trip paid for! I'm fortunate enough to have a commuter car, so my truck/camper usually just sit unless I choose to drive it between trips.

We keep it ready to go except food! That way all I need to do is add food and leave! During the winter months I will put the stands down and give it a deep clean and check invetory.

I keep the Horizon fully loaded with the exception of perishables.
Blankets, heater fuel, sleeping bags, canned soups snacks ect. It is also used for a backup to the earth quake kit.

Both the Horizon and the Bigfoot are loaded to go with everything except consumables. We clean them up usually the weekend after a trip, and replace some stuff such as paper goods and so on. Then when we are ready for another trip just load up food, beverages, firewood, charcoal etc. and we're ready to go. Many folks will tell you this is one of the advantages of having a trailer or a camper. It's definitely less work to get ready for a trip, but there is some maintenance involved that you wouldn't have otherwise.

Like the rest of you, we keep most of our supplies in the popup truck camper. We also have a checklist inside one of the cabinet doors that we look at before leaving on a trip (Oh, yeah, we need aluminum foil. Glad I checked the list. Better grab some from the house). When I take the camper off for extended time periods I usually empty the water containers and fill with fresh before the next trip. We have 5,000 gallons of water in our storage tank at home so additional water for emergencies is not needed.

One more thought... Since grocery stores, etc are an hour away from our house we occasionally have to rob the camper of something we just ran out of. Propane tank on the camper has come to the rescue more than once when the home barbecue tank went dry on a Sunday afternoon. Yet another reason truck campers are cool.

I use a check list

We have a tear drop that we pull with our Honda Pilot and we have an AT Horizon that goes behind the Tacoma. When we only had the Horizon we kept it fully stocked excluding foods but with two trailers, we have to switch cooking gear, chairs etc. I really can't justify having two sets of everything so instead, I have a check list.

I made up a general check list with everything that we might possibly need for either trailer and next to each listed item has two boxes. One box shows take and the other shows packed. With this list I can make sure that I have every item that I think I might need for that trip. So far it seems to be working pretty well. The older I get the more OCD I get about having the items I feel that I am going to need.

I keep chickens and pigs in mine.

Sorry, I will be keeping it fully loaded for weekend trips, multi week trips will require some reorganizing.

Loaded except clothes, perishables, kids, and to put fresh water in the tanks. Funny that with so few things to do it still seems like a chore to get 2 kids ready for a trip. At least it's better than packing everything in the truck from scratch. :smiley_drive:

We try to keep everything except perishables in the trailer, it's our Emergency kit.

I also usually keep the truck full of fuel as it not the DD.

We do pack additional clothes depending on the destination.

We live within 1/4 of the San Andreas Fault so we keep our trailer loaded with everything but perishables and underwear. Makes it handy for a weekend runaway too.

My horizon is fully loaded lot's of can goods all I have to do is hook it up and we are gone. If we have time I will load perishables.
