What gives with the FWC folk... (I am part of the FWC folk)

Having been a longtime Vanagon and Subaru guy, I am used to folks return "howdy" waves on the road...turns out that FWC people are not not cut out of the same fabric. After a boat load of miles hauling my FWC up and down Ca I have yet to have a single FWC cat return a friendly wave.

What gives? :coffee:

I will wave at you.

PS I'm guessing passing at combined highway speeds they don't have time to react? Or maybe they really don't like you? :)

Fair point, not too tough to wave when you are in a Vanagon...even at "hwy speed". :bike_rider:

There are LOTs of pop-up camper brands out there now, and at highway speeds they are not very distinctive without reading the graphics.
I have driven an Alaskan Camper a couple times a year for a few years. Most Alaskan owners smile/wave, but not all. Some might just be preoccupied?
Being very distinctive helps....a lot, then being passionate about the vehicle, and unique counts, too.

I've had a pretty good response from Northstar owners.
The best I every had was when I owned an old style Landcruiser.
We were suffering with manual steering and drum brakes back then and sympathized with each other.

Hmmm, I live in CA and we spend a lot of time exploring with our FWC. Always give the others a wave. Seem to get a pretty good response back. Definitely harder on highways though. Sometimes we don't even notice them until they go by, and then it is too late.

Get waved at and wave back on I90 headed up to the Bighorn Mountains. Kind of hard to wave in town but I do notice them. Must be a California thing .

I have people honk and scream at me when I drive my 87 toy pickup. But I think its because I don't have brakes. Hmmm.
