What is the best way to protect the trailer frame?

I just picked up a nice Dinoot extended trailer.

The frame is well built using 2x2 square channel and 1x3 C channel. The frame is just raw steel and is showing some superficial rust and I'd like to have it sandblasted then either powder coated or Line X'd.

What would you reccomend and why?

POR-15, then cover it with any old spraypaint. You will only need 1 qt of the POR-15. Stuff is hard as tank armor after it cures, but fades from UV if you dont paint over it.

Josh have you ever used it?
In reading the info on the website it says that if you do the three step process you can apply it directly over metal with rust on it...is that true?

I used POR15 on my M100

Hit the bad stuff with a wire brush & wheel
Got a POR15 floor pan & trunk kit kit on amazon, included cleaner, etching metal prep, top coat, brushes & even some seam sealer, putty, and repair fabric

Followed the instructions
Results were great, but I would invest in a little extra cleaner and metal prep solutions

this stuff is simply amazing POR15 cant even come close

I did. It is the coating for my camper frame. Self levelling too, so brushing it on end up looking like a gloss powder coat. However in my case I had my 60yo frame media blasted first because i had some fab work done to it before coating it. It is straight on bare metal though, no primer.
