My personal favorite though not available commercially says "Rock Island Staff 2002" on the cover and was a gift from the scoutmaster of a troop I worked with that summer at camp. It's a 30+ year collection of the troop's favorite camp foods, with much of it being dutch oven fare though some recipes make use of a camp stove or a fire and grate. Everything in it can be cooked with my relatively simple camp kitchen setup modeled after a patrol's chuck box. :chef:
check out the NOLS cookery.
Solid simple ideas most of them made from simple ingredients. easily made in the field on small stoves.
Back country bread rolls? I think so.
I really like the book I got at the Overland Expo this year
Forks in the Road: Recipes from Overlanding the Pan-American Highway by Kobus and Jessica Mans as well as Jared Mccaffree
I've been trying to think of how to do things we do for just one...
Would be harder. A typical recipe starts, "cut an acorn squash in half..." So you'd either need a nice vegan girlfriend or a huge appetite.
