What is the thickness of the aluminum used on an Aluminess bumper? I am curious and know some of you here have them. What thickness did they put under the winch? I am assuming that is thicker than the other portions. Also how many have used it in a rockcrawling setting. How well does it take a scrape? I did search but anything with Aluminess comes up from sigs and adding another keyword equals unrelated threads. Thank you.

We had Aluminess bumpers on the front and rear of our rig.

I can't really speak for the strength of the rear bumper, but the front had two impacts:

1) we hit a full sized deer at 50mph and no damage whatsoever
2) we had a tour bus drive into the front corner of the bumper and the only damage was some removal of the powder coating. The bus was shredded.

Re: specs, I suggest that you contact Dave at Aluminess to ask about the construction specs.

I hope this helps.

Thank you both. 3/16" and 1/4" seems a lot smaller than I would have guessed. That is what most steel bumpers use. From all of the reviews I have read they seem stout, and from their own claim that they use lots of engineering to get the strength to weight ratio.
