what rims are these?

Here's a pic I took today. The truck hasn't been properly washed/scrubbed since I put the Tundra wheels on my truck about 6,000 miles ago (Pics I put in previous post). I've done some muddy local trails, some creek crossings, and the daily commute. It's only been through a few weak rains in this Texas drought and I've only blasted the undercarriage with the water hose to get the mud out of everything but I didn't wash anything else. Mother nature provided the mud/dirt removal on the body and wheels/tires. Anyway, you can see how the OEM black finish looks even after a lack of cleaning. You can also see the old mud on the sidewalls...

I considered the 17" FJC wheels, since the Tundra wheels aren't too common and rounding up 4 Tacoma spares would be a chore, but after looking at a 1st gen Pre Runner with 17" 2nd Gen Alloys with 265/70/17's, I couldn't get over how thin the sidewall looked with the 17's, so I continued the hunt for the 16's. The 17's look good on 4Runners ( like Martinjmprs above! ) and Extended Cabs/ 4-doors, but my truck is the runt of the litter and I like the big sidewalls on the 265/75/16. Actually, I posted an ad on Craigslist asking for these wheels specifically and got two replies within a day or so and had my new steel wheels and BFG AT KO's for less than a single BFG would cost new.

Good luck!

PS: Don't mind the poor fitting camper in the above pic. I picked it up last night for a song. It's from a Ford Ranger. It fits beautifully except for the cab section. It's the right width/length/height and has the same profile as the pillars. About an hour with the air saw and some fiberglass and it should fit like it was made for the reg cab Tacoma! Just needs to slide forward 1" to fit right.

I wouldn't worry about it. I picked my topper up for $80, its for a Chevy Luv lol....but for 80 bucks....it works.

well i just got 4 taco 16's with the bigger hole by the valve stem. On the regular cab above or anyone else with these, did you paint, powder coat or just clean them up? Also will the lugs i'm using for my gray trd wheels work fine, i'm assuming...

anyone know of any more gen 2 pics with this sort of wheel?

Like I said before... I didn't paint mine, just hosed em down. As long as the lug nuts have the beveled edge they'll work for the steel wheels. When I got my Tundra wheels I also got the OEM open ended lug nuts with them and used those instead of the capped/chrome lug nuts that my truck came with originally, I just prefer the look of the open lug nuts.

but i'd like to know what rims / size specs ect as i think they look retro and very cool. All about looks.
thanks.

Hey - I think you clearly have your answer by now...that white tacoma was the inspiration for my recent wheel project on my 4Runner. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I'm running 17" FJ Steelies with 255 80 17 KM2's - gloss white industrial grade rustoleum with lots of prepping :)

OK, posted this question on another thread, but seems to be talked about here:

Steel wheel question here, thought I saw answer but can't find it. So I have 5 stock 1st Gen Tundra 16 hole steel wheels(16x7), and just came across a 2nd Gen Tacoma (16x7) 16 hole steel wheel. Thought I might run it as a 2nd spare. Other than the oval type hole, is there any difference? Any reason not to have it in normal rotation? If not, it was darn near free, so no biggie. Thanks! Oh....this will be for my 2002 Tundra.

Nice looking truck, I like the white rims with that color. Good Job.

If anyone reading this thread is looking for white FJ steelies, I have a set of five I'm looking to get rid of. We are downsizing and I don't have the space for an extra set of wheels anymore. I will post soon up on the for sale section - this is just a teaser.

Don't get bent out of shape on my asking price. These have zero rust and I'm in for more than what I'm asking with refinishing, lug nuts, valve stems, etc added up. Will ship at buyers expense. No TPMS sensors. Wheels have less than 1000 miles. Make an offer!

I wish I was in country and nearer to pick those up. If you still have them in late May, let em know! I think that's a good price.
