What should I do, I have a 1963 land rover 88 which is in rough shape

So I bought a land rover 88 a couple of months ago. It needs a lot of work. The engine is seized, it needs a front drivers side fender, tires, basically a full restoration. Is it worth it.

hmm... I would say it depends on your skill, your wallet, your resources, and your personality. How is the frame and rest of the bulkhead?

It's always worth to safe an old Land Rover, depends on space, time, money dough.

I'm selling a few parts from a 1960 SII in case you need something.

My SII was in very bad shape

but I made a new rear crossmember

and rebuilt the frame

Keep your old Series, if not you'll regret it one day.

You bought it for a reason, what were you thinking? I would think to rebuild. I would also love to see pics.

Decision by consensus ? Most all restoration projects undertaken by individuals are not based on rational thought but rather a yearning/drive that defies rationalization. Seemingly if you ask the question you lack the yearn/drive to undertake the project.

There was only one rover engine I could not get running and it was a 1.6 IOE in my 51. Way too much rust in the cylinders.

If I were you, I would pull the plugs and dump a releasing agent (Marvel mystery oil, PB blaster, even ATF) put the plugs back in and let it sit for a week. If it won't turn, pull the head it will take all of an hour.

The killer is not the engine as you can get a running one for a few hundred dollars. The bulkhead and chassis are the issue. If they are ok, it is restorable. If not, they are expensive, but it is still restorable.

Pictures please.

Just imagine, your '63 88" IIa could look like this '63 IIa, or even better!

See that smile? That could be your smile, your pride!

Now go make it a reality!
