What slide-in campers have you all tried on your Tacomas?

I'm trying to find a camper (preferably a pop up, but everything is negotiable) that will fit both a first-gen, as well as a second-gen Tacoma. I know FWC makes one ($$$!) and I've seen a few others (Swift, Travelite, etc... unfortunately none local to me) but the supply seems to be pretty low for campers that fit small pickups. I know there have been a myriad of companies over the years that made all sorts of campers and that most of them have gone bust. Obviously, that doesn't mean their products aren't still out there though.

So here's my question, what lesser known (or lesser valued) campers have you seen work on a Tacoma? Basically, what should I be looking for that I might not know about? What were your experiences like (handling, weight, storage, convenience, etc)? Any leads on an affordable Taco camper?

(One last thing, last summer, I was camping in WV and saw a guy with an ooooold aluminum Alaskan camper (one where you crank up the roof to standing height) that he'd done a bunch of work on. He had it on a Frontier(?) but the size seemed right. Anyone know what model that might have been? That thing was super cool).

Thanks, all!
