Honu
lost on the mainland
not him but most of us run dual batteries
most of us its not about the weight of the ice or anything its just once you use them you realize how awesome they are
last few trips I went back to the cooler for fun to try and save a touch of space but OK remember why I bought a fridge again
ahahahaha
longest trips we ever take are 2 weeks or so then I do bring a generator and solar found solar is worthless on the Oregon coast and Washington with the trees the system would charge when traveling though ? so its more when you are there for say 4-5 days
there is quite a bit of fridge time info etc... a 120 AH battery on my arb 45 I can go about 4-5 days pretty easy here in AZ camping around 5000 feet or so without having to charge it
but with some solar I can extend that of course to almost for ever with a hard 40 and 2 softer 27 panels I have but I need to get it in the sun and again where we camp trees get in the way and we are only doing 4 day trips so its more just to keep it topped up as I can I just put panels on my empty roof rack when I do that need to get a better solar setup
also again knowing I am out for 4 days I don't put much effort into keeping it charged knowing I will be driving and home before it runs out
once you get one you realize how amazing they are
again still like coolers for cold drinks said it before nothing like a icy WET cold drink and on long trips we bring a cooler for the kids drinks and daily grab food that can get wet like yogurts and stuff also on longer trips we freeze juice and milk and use that as the ice for the cooler along with a fridge its a great combo
