What would you pay for a 1990 RRC?

I need some advice. I am trying to sell my 1990 RRC and so far have not gotten any offers on it. I have listed it in a few different areas but mostly local (salt lake city) for sale sites. I don't feel like I am asking too much at $3500 but maybe I'm delusional. It is a pretty clean rig, new ome lift, new tires, lots of work mechanically. The interior does need some tlc but it complete and very usable.

What are your thoughts? Here is a picture of it for reference

Probably not what you want to hear, but I paid less than half that for a 92 light stone edition with full service records, everything works, factory rack, etc.
I'm picking up a running 5 speed 95 discovery today for $300. Interior is rough but outside and mechanically it's clean.
I'm in tx so the market is different, but I know of a very clean 91 swb that's been on a consignment lot for 2+ years at $3900 here.

Best chance would be list yours on same said sites, maybe? Dunno I have 2 rrc now and when I was shopping I saw a huge variance in prices. I just assumed it was due to things outside my knowledge base. People are getting that for them, maybe give it more time? Good luck!

I've run into similar issues any time I've tried to sell an old vehicle. I ended up literally giving a truck I had almost 15k into away to a friend because I knew he would appreciate the work and the effort. Lowball offers meant it would be given away anyway. Unless you're dying for the cash, consider finding a deserving young kid with some mechanical or engineering talent and making a life-changing gift?

I think a lot of the issue is that middle aged trucks have little to no value in the market. In Cali, we add the compliance burden of smog testing something that needs ridiculous things repaired all the time...

Essentially, everyone a selling a POS truck claims well maintained with refreshed engine and trans, and it is impossible to sort the good from the liars without actually seeing the rig.

Do you have the option of moving it to the rust belt, where the visuals will make it sell fast just by parking on a street corner?

That's a good point, too. I'm selling my Hunter edition to a local kid for almost nothing, but that leaves him enough to get it back into good shape. We do have an agreement that I have first buy back rights if anything should happen

The fact that you have spent money and listed many maintenance items being recently done is less of a positive than not working locks abs and other items are a negative. Look at kbb and Edmunds private party price for fair condition... less than average. Your car might book for about 800. You might be able to add 50% of cost.of.some good tire and after market stuff but not every repair.

i definitely over paid for mine at 3600 since it ended up needing some floor replacement due to rust. i think if you are patient you will find the right buyer. im not too upset over mine because it has the color and options i was looking for. not to mention these things are tremendously undervalued. if mine was worth 10 grand i still would have bought it. its amazing yours hasnt sold yet. if you can afford to be patient, do so.

Son bought a 89, same color, park yours and his together, matching twins. Price? $1100

Needed some ignition system work (previous owner clueless on how to wire in a Mallory disty). Interior was in excellent shape. Runs good today. Keep in mind that upgrades will not increase the value of a vehicle by the same amount spent. I would think yours is in the $1600-$2000 range. Not enough pics to judge. Find the right buyer and a little more?

I sold a 1994 LWB about 8 months ago for $3500. It only had 115K miles on it. 4.2L everything worked. I converted it to coil springs but left it at stock ride height.

It took me about 4 months to try and sell it.

I've been eyeing your RRC for awhile now on KSL.com.

I want a fun Range Rover Classic/P38 to take the place of my Discovery II as my commuter car (so I can actually start modding the D2).

The reason I haven't placed an offer on your RRC, was mainly due to the miles. Everything else I can deal with, but we all know the (questionable) reliability of the Rover V8, although the older blocks know doubt traditionally hold better, all bets are off when you are over 200k miles.

Despite all that you've done to your vehicle, I wouldn't be able to risk more than $1k on it and rather than seem like a Jerk with a low-ball offer, I've been content staring at your Moab photos for the past month. .

By the way, I'm taking my Disco there next weekend, can't wait!

If it makes it to 200k the block is fine. I have seen d1's with over 300k on non rebuilt engines and trans.


I have seen nicer trucks sell for less and terrible trucks sell for way way more. It's all about the market and how you advertise it I guess.

If the engine was taken care of, it shouldn't be a problem. Those older motors also had more head bolts to hold the head on. They had much less issues with bad head gaskets. Its only when they went to GEMS that the heads were changed. If I remember right. The older 3.5L's and 3.9L's seemed to be better in that respect.

Wish I could get my BMW sold. I'd probably be all over that RRC. It would be cool to have two Land Rovers in the driveway
