Your trailer is perfect for you maybe.

Hard to be perfect for sure. I am just glad I got mine finished and have been been able to use it even more then I thought I would. Its satisfying that after all the time we have both put in to making the decisions on our perspective rigs that we are in them and getting out in this wild west camping we have.

What do you all think is the rule of thumb regarding margin on GCWR? Is there an accepted amount you'd prefer to stay below maximum? How much can you haul and still leave your vehicle capable and less-stressed? Seems like maxing out would be compromising.

I think the 80 % rule is good assuming one balances tow vehicle and trailer. The 80% should apply to all ratings separately especially tounge weight and cargo carrying capacity of tow vehicle. See so many rigs going down the road not level so hitch drop or rise is very important

Further more, best to build it yourself, next, have it built, next, buy used and modify it (but no used travel trailers), if all that fails, use a cargo trailer and modify it.

"Off road trailers" are crazy over priced, go that route if you use hundred dollar bills to start your campfire.

Just because it's winter doesn't mean folks should stop posting for help on deciding on which trailer to buy. Don't be shy ask away!
I appreciate this thanks for the invitation!

We are looking for:
1. Sleeping for 4, prefer no conversion on main bed. Prefer queen bed for main bed
2. Prefer garageable (7’ or under)
3. Light off-road capable at minimum
4. Outdoor kitchen. Prefer no indoor kitchen to maximize space
5. Some ability to hang out inside in inclement weather
6. Under 50k
7. Some vinyl ok
8. Used great condition ok

Trailers considered to date:
Taxa Mantis: Quality concerns, no outdoor kitchen
Opus OP4, too much tent, beds are small, sterile feel
Used OP15, Mission Approach, Dweller 15, too tall to garage
AOR: Price
Bean squared: not yet released, looks too tall, price ???
Used Lifestyle Iconn EVO/E2E: Quality concerns, EVO is very spartan inside

What am I missing? I’m open to non garageable but would likely need to invest in a carport/shelter or similar which has its own drawbacks/complications.

Thanks in advance!

Tow vehicle? Where will you be camping? Do you need wet bath?

A tad over 50k for a trailer..that's crazy
It's a trailer not a space shuttle.
Find one you like and fix it the way you want it.
Evidently you gotta go in big debt to scratch the itch.
Hi hear you Mickey and maybe the best rule of thumb if you want a new off road trailer with very pricey components especially lithium and solar is if you can swing it w/o having to finance it.

Anything over 7ft brings the used OP15/Mission Approach/Dweller 15 into play along with $$$ for shelter. Arkto was in the mix as well. 4th bed is only 52”x35” which really is only suitable for small kids. But yeah, solid option.
