What's the Difference between 2000 Montero Endeavor and 2.0 & 2.5 Gen Montero
Seeking build advice as well.
Looking to replace a tired 92 Explorer 4D 4x4. Dislikes: it poor mileage, weak dog power, and just about everything but the motor /tranie doesn't work anymore. Like it for its cargo area to fit 2 Lab size dog crates, fishing poles, bows, camping gear.

Decided on the Montero
Want a truck for backroads, fields, mud, and fire roads in the Sierras. Want the Locking diff. sliding windows, and 7 passenger for larger cargo area. Want to run 31 or 33's.

Found this truck on ebay but its an Endeavor

and this one on craiglist

Thanks

The Endeavor was a luxury package offered for the 2000. So it is just a Gen 2.5 Montero with a heated seats, high end sound, premium leather, wood accents, etc.

I really like my 2000 Montero Endeavor. It's a great vehicle. It's 13 years old and it doesn't have a squeak or rattle. I saw that tan one on eBay the other day and I think it's a nice ride. The dent in the rear quarter needs to be fixed but other wise it looks great.

If you want a locking rear diff, then go for a 1995-99 Montero because a rear locker was not available on the 2000 model year, but it can be bolted in pretty easy.

If you are looking to go with 33's I would recommend the 1995-96 because they come with the lower 4.62 diff gears. The 1997-1999 have the 4.27 rear gears which are great for 31" tires, but 33" tires start to bog down the vehicle.
