What's your favorite camping cook book?

cheers Brad although it is quite old - wrote it about 3 years ago. Since then Africa has changed quite a lot; it is amazing what products are readily available in most big cities. There is very little we cannot get these days so no excuse for bad food while camping.

The grasshoppers are awesome!

Debs, thanks for posting this!!

Not only is your cookbook fascinating, but it looks like your tour company has put together some of the most interesting, affordable trips I've seen yet through Africa.

The best book is : "The Book of Household Management" by Mrs. Isabella Beeton
First printed in cica 1859-1861

I have a hard back copy that I got about twenty years ago in Australia. I did find an eBook on Google and provided a link below.

There is some very topical content ......... as it covers not only cooking but also running the manor house.
If any of you have read "In defense of Food" this may also reshape some of your thoughts of foods your Grandmother knew.

This is so much more than a cookbook! I predict many more hours of reading and insight into history, husbandry, natural sciences, industrialism, victorian life and more. What a gem, thanks for letting us know about it. :wavey:

The recipes are so earthy and appealing ... there are alot of things here that will soon be wafting heavenly smells in my kitchen, yummmm. I had no idea there were so many variations on some common foods, explained succinctly and still very contemporary. Well worth wading through the e-book to find what you're looking for, but I am ordering a hardcopy.
