Wheels and MPG?

You won't notice a big enough difference in fuel mileage to justify the purchase of the wheels, but if they are the wheels you want, then just get them.

Wheel, and more importantly tire weight, only affect acceleration and braking forces. At steady state cruise, they have zero effect, theoretically. Their effect is also magnified if the vehicle is light, high hp / weight ratio, and of good aero to begin with. Putting semi tires on a Vette would cause a HUGE mpg dip.

A Jeep or other truck would be affected a lot less, as the vehicle weight and bad aero contributes to most parasitic loss. To take it to the extreme - I went from 11R22.5 to 11R24.5 rims/tires on my 25,000 lbs Prevost bus. And guess what, city mpg didn't budge (may 5.5 down to 5.4, lol), and hwy mpg increased due to taller effective gearing.

We will see where this one goes, the line I had on the wheels flaked out... and I am looking at a Gen I Montero to build my expo on
