Which off-road vehicle?

again, I said, when hard off roading yes, the solid axle is better. but 90% of the time, and by 90% of the drivers even on here, independent is just the better option. I disagree with the dodge being a better riding truck than the GMC....I have owned both and GMC rode way better...the dodge was like driving my JK. all over the place...inherent trait of the solid front axle.

It is more available but what makes it a better option 90% of the time for 90% of the people. They should have a smoother ride on many surfaces but other than that what is the advantage of IFS?

I own all three concurrently, so I can do A-B-C comparisons any time I want. The solid axle Dodge is better on any surface other than a twisty asphalt road in the mountains. The Tundra handles like a Camry with tired shocks, but it's fast. The GMC falls in the middle, but is best in the twisties.

Not speaking for kojack, but for me, IFS gets me to where I'm going, while riding better on-road and high-speed backcountry roads. This is 95% of my trip miles. I'd say that's probably the same with the majority of the "overland" crowd as well. Given a choice, I'd go IFS. But big tires and airing down will help with either set up, and honestly, if I had a SFA vehicle, I'd be happy with it as well.

Forget IFS vs SFA...C-Chanel vs Boxed...buy everyone a dirt bike! ;)

Unless you're me, and not only do you decide to go 1WD, but without a motor...

By the way, this thing does almost everything better off-road than any of the trucks mentioned. IFS/IRS is the way to go, baby!

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I am still debating and will likely not really move in any particular direction until summer. I have come to the conclusion that I likely will never be doing any real hardcore offroading and that I could probably get by fine with ifs.

You have all given me plenty to think about and I appreciate it.

I am too out of shape for the pedal power(I know..it would help me get back in shape), but we do have some dirtbikes. A klx300 for me and a pw50 for the older boy, but he isn't riding yet. He's been on it twice with limited success. Trying not to push it too hard, he is still only 4, but hopefully this summer is one of progress.

I used to have some ih scout projects that I never finished and were getting in the way so I sold all my stuff...definitely regret it sometimes. I would love to get one again someday.
