So... How about that weather...

Yikes.

What would you recommend wearing Christophe? Temp says HIGH of 50 on Saturday, but that doesn't neccessarily mean "on" the course.
I did a short 90 minute ride today at 4:30 and rode through a full blown white out for about 20 minutes. We got about 2" by 9pm. It'll melt off by mid morning tomorrow. It will be epic!!

Well, we still have snow. The race starts in 24 hours and there's 2-3 inches on the course. Epic indeed. It's super cloudy right now, so if this snow is to melt off, it'll have to happen quick.

I would expect to be racing in some wet conditions, but nothing muddy. The road might roll a little slow in spots and the stream crossings will be pretty fat. I love it.

In Belgium the guys that race best when covered in mud, ice, grime, goo and dripping with suffering are called FLAHUTE.

FLAHUTE!!!!!! FLAHUTE!!!!!!!

Christophe... here is what you need to do.

Step 1: Locate 2 industrial strength hair dryers
Step 2: Find two rolls of duct tape
Step 3: Duct tape aforementioned hair dryers to the bottom of your fork legs
Step 4: Locate approximately 30 miles of extension cord
Step 5: Plug in hair dryers, set them on high, pre-ride the Whiskey 25 course

I just can't have my new bike getting all muddy.

My .02 .....

Leg and or arm warmers. They can be rolled down or even removed once things heat up. Not very bulky and easy to stow if fully removed.

I got a hold of some Pearl Izumi fleece lined warmers for the 24HR race and will be bringing them up for this event as well.

However, if you can find some wool based ones that might be best with the possible wet and mucky conditions (depending on Christophe's hair dryer success)

I'm sure you guys are on your way up. I just drove around the overlook. Snow is gone. Sun is out. Course is moist, but not muddy. I'd expect 45-50 degrees at start time. Should be really nice.

Good seeing you and NICE riding on that rigid bike Steve! CONGRATS on placing the podium Micki! :bike_rider: I brought all of your seats and shoes and forgot to hand them off. DOH!

Christophe,
Thanks for the updates and good chatting with you and meeting the wifey!

Brian,
Thanks for manning the rest stop! It was nice to see a friendly face at the beginning and end of the skull valley loop.

Of course good seeing Nathan and Jeremy and Graham and Connie and for Scott and Stephanie letting us crash! :victory:

It turned out to be a great day. There was some insane talent at this year's race. I couldn't believe some of the finishing times.

I think next year I'll have to spin on a smaller cog if I'm to knock off 10 minutes to get on the podium. I was close.

Keep an eye out for a 29er for me. I'm parts hunting on the cheap!

I figured by next year you would be over cycling and would join the Hangmen's MC or The Mongols MC with that Vespa. They seemed to be having a good time at Whiskey Row. :coffeedrink:

I know this race happened weeks ago, but with a trip to CO just after the finish, I haven't been online much.

Congrats to SOAZ and Flounder for their efforts and results. We had a blast and was fun to represent Overland Journal as best as possible. I had some higher result goals for myself, but have learned a lot and will be looking forward to next years race.

Flounder, let's try and do some riding this summer. We will be in your neck of the woods often with things heating up down here in the valley.

Absolutely. I seriously have to get rolling on my road bike asap, though. I've got a few road events coming up and I'm going to get slaughtered if I don't get my fitness on track.
