Who has the best set up for a bed?

I use a hammock in my current rig.

I was just getting ready to start a thread asking about hammock solutions, so great timing. Any chance of seeing photos of the setup? I'm trying to figure a way to integrate the idea into my ambo conversion.

Here is my bed that I built last weekend. Using a full size 8" futon mattress. Quite comfy and I am 6'-5" 300 lbs. Folds both ways for use as a couch facing front or back.

The girlfriend is doing a fine job of modeling (snoring) on the bed. :)

I could give you a mental picture if you would like, taking a picture with my camera wont work so well. first my van has a high top on it so it's a lot easier to set up the hammock, it is mounted diagonally in the van from the drivers rear corner to behind the passenger front seat. there is a large aluminum L bracket what appears to be holding the roof on so I simply drilled two holes in it so large S hooks to fit into and then hung the hammock. very simple very effective and incredibly comfortable to sleep on. as a matter of fact I am swinging in my hammock as I type this to you.

I don't have my van set up just yet, but I will be using a queen size memory foam mattress. I may cut it into 2 or 3 pieces later to fold into a couch, but to start, I'll use it as it was intended. I have a twin size Spa Sensations 8" mattress from Walmart.com that I use now in my station wagon and it is very comfortable. I sleep well on it. My parents just put a 10" Spa Sensations in their motor home, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

After researching tons of options i settled on the above sleeping pad.
1. rolls / folds up- for easy storage
2. Not an air mattress
3. Price was decent

Ok so I grabbed one of these and headed up to Lake Wenatchee for a few days and must say i was impressed. This foam pad is only 3" thick and I was worried that I would squish thru the foam and bottom out on the wood sleeping deck. NOT- this thing was great its soft yet firm enough you don't bottom out and big enough for me and my lady to sleep on. 78x48 and handled my 6'3" 200lbs with ease. Comfort was out of this world felt just like a regular mattress at home.
Tons of good reviews is what made me decide to try one.

I picked this up from a Chevy Savana, it sits a bit tall so we want to lower it a bit, this may involve taking a BFH to the wheel arches.

I'm going to build a platform behind our two captain's chairs in a RB E350. The captains chairs will be able to slide forward and back a couple of feet so I want my bed platform with a queen size futon mattress to be able to fold up in to at least a half-*** couch with as much storage underneath as possible. I'm thinking the platform will be about 12 inches high. I think I want to work with wood first so that if we change our minds on layout then I'm not out a large investment in 80/20 or something of that sort.

I've heard people avoid making a secure attachment/span between walls because it causes undo stress on the van walls when things are flexing off-road.

Anyone have any design recommendations?

How should I secure it so things aren't moving around in an accident?

Anybody used a atv ramp for a removable bed platform? http://www.discountramps.com/4-wheeler-ramps/c/2212/
I'll have to measure it to see if it would work. It should be easy to remove.

I won't be able to find it at the moment - think it is over on the SMB forum, but I know it's been done before. If I chopped a try folding one up even more and put some hinges on it so it could fold hamburger style instead of just hotdog style I might go that route...thanks for reminding me!
