Who makes 'Expedition' trailers?

I'm aware of trailers like the AT Chaser and Horizon, and the Ruger trailers, but who else produces a quality trailer of this type? I'm not interested in Teardrops or other trailers that provide a place to sleep, but just something for hauling extra gear/fuel, the camp kitchen, maybe a compressor refrigerator.

If you have one, what are the pro/cons you've discovered?

TIA

I will try and answer your question. It sounds like you're looking for a WWII-ish type trailer.

In addition to the trailers you mentioned, check out Manley trailers. I don't have one, but seems like I've read good reviews on them in the past.

Or with a little bit of work (suspension, wiring, and axles, etc.) check this out:

https://www.kaiserwillys.com/complete-trailer-assembly-kit-fits-41-45-mb-gpw

With this kaiserwillys option, you can get the exact axle you want to match the exact tires and rims (think bolt pattern) that you want.

However, if you're on a budget (like many of us are) you can build a nice little "adventure" trailer using a Harbor Freight frame. I used a little HF 4' trailer for my build. It is just an aluminum box with a lid on a modified HF frame - nothing fancy there. Swapped out the overly stiff factory slipper springs for some longer slightly softer springs, shocks, and a 3500lb axle with electric brakes. All bolt together. And I bolted a Cabella's Tent Cot to the lid.

Check out VMI Offroad out of Bellingham, Washington. They make some pretty nice aluminum expedition trailers of all different sizes. you would probably be interested in the Ox.

Thanks for the links and ideas on trailers! It's nice to have a few more options beyond the ones I mentioned. I'm just looking for something to pull behind my little truck and popup shell. It only has to handle stuff I don't want to deal with in the shell. While I have the skills to build from scratch, I'm getting lazy in my old age. Besides, I'd have to clean my shop up to make enough space to work on one.

Also take a look at the Morris Mule. Since it isn't built strictly for rich people that are into "overlanding" like most of the **** you see on this site, it's less than half the price and does the exact same thing.

Thank you! It seems like a good unit...

No problem. I've been keeping my eye on them for a couple of years now. I wish a few more folks from here would buy them and post up more reviews. If you get one, please let us know how it goes. If I ever get the budget, I'd like to modify the rack with gas shocks so it'll lift the tent. I don't like that the rack has only 2 fixed positions.

Unless you're set on a readymade trailer you might think about rebuilding a M416 or M100 trailer if you can find one. You can use it right a way and you can turn it into what you want over time. My trailer is a gear hauler, I use it for everything from camping, carrying SCUBA gear, hunting, Boy Scout evets, PCSing and picking up stuff from Lowes or wherever. I've looked at all those companies you've listed for a trailer however, I didn't have the money to spend on one. I found a M416 for $600, used those readymade trailers for ideas and planned out what I wanted. It's been a work in progress over the last two years, I've still got a few thing I want to do it but I'm happy with my results. Good luck!

For a basic trailer (that can also include some fancy bits if you want them) take a look at Rockbox Offroad Trailers. They are building some really nice stuff that resembles the M416.
