My friends father had one about 3 years ago. . . .

MY GOD!!! the power was amazing! Said it was murder to get even the simplest of parts though,so I'd hate to see what way it is in the states :Wow1: The interior was really fancy on it too, recaro seats similar to the lancer evo,all carbon on the dash trim and solo comfortable. I think I'm going to end up browsing for them online again,Damnit!

It looks like the outskirts of Seattle.
That's actually San Francisco.

I'm looking for some, too. Looks like the 5 speed manuals are rare on the Evos since I've only seen one of them for sale so far. One day I will have one.:)

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
I think that's the one that popped up for sale a few years ago in San Francisco, Az Crew tried to buy it like crazy but the owner didn't seem to be trying too hard to sell it. I think Paul offered to wire him half his asking price to hold it till the weekend and the other half upon pickup equalling his full asking price. Weaksauce, that truck should be here in Az.

That's interesting. Do you remember what the price was? Is this a legal truck?

Mitsubishi didn't really do a good job on the pajero manual box, even the current ones like to spontaneously erupt, the ones in the Evos didn't last long at all. Even a gen 4 with 20k KM on the clock feels notch as *******,the DMFs are big money to replace in them too,so I'd personally give them a wide berth. The auto one I was in had the same tiptronic auto that the late model 2.8s come with, which is really nice compared to the standard autobox.

Here is your dream machine,If you buy it i'll happily look after it for you for the next 9 years while it matures enough to be let into the states :sombrero:

I would have paid that in a second. I still can't figure out how it's here, legally, though. These were never sold here, right?

I'll keep in mind to stay away from the manual ones then. If you want to keep an eye on mine, you'll have to pay a rental fee. :sombrero:

Yes, resurrecting a dead post, but the answer is Canada. There they have only a 20-year rule where ours is a 25-year import rule. However, once it's here it's here, and is technically a "grey market" car. Basically it's legal and kinda not at the same time. As long as it conforms to your states laws inspection and smog laws, and was similar to a model sold here it's usually good. Plus, if you live in Florida, anything goes. Goodluck ever registering one in Komifornia though.

Your information is not quite accurate. We actually have a 15 year rule. In 2006 I waited anxiously for May so I could import my first second gen Pajero. (Goes off the build year/month). In 2008 I counted down till I got my 1993 Paj with the bigger diesel. Nowadays, we can legally import MY2000's, as long as they were built before August, 2000.

But that doesn't really help you guys who are stateside, does it... :(

Regarding the import rules the history of why that came about in the US is interesting. Basically the German auto makers were getting their butts kicked in the US by people going over seas and shipping cars back under cutting the German sales efforts on US shores and the auto makers demanded that the US place a complete ban on imported vehicles but a few GOV folks thought that was a bit silly and created the 25yr age cut off instead.

As for that one above its not legal US material and he's only able to keep it due to his non resident status as a student which even that I bet he's had a few tickets for not having CA plates given SF police have cracked down on out of state plates and missing front plates on cars that have been in state for more than 30 days.
