Why does this rack look wrong

Its the large radius bends. Doesn't fit the lines of the roof.

That's definately the reason. The one upland posted, although about the same height, doesn't look "off".

There are a LOT of Wranglers around here and to even see one with the hardtop off is rare.

There's no accounting for you heep guys; us Land Cruiser guys take our tops off every spring/summer.

My top is off for as long as I can on my YJ wrangler. Even my soft top has a tendancy to be down more than up. I have a rack for it to. It is an Olympic. Yes I can not take the windsheild down anymore, but since the Snorkle make it impossible anyway, this is not realy major.

The problem with any safari style rack for soft top jeep is that non is perfect. I had to modifiy and reinforce my olympic. It also have to be high so I can take my soft top down without having to lift the rack up.

Like I say, a top rack on a wrangler type jeep will always be a compromise.

But we do this for the overland, nut for the pure look of it!

If you don't want it, I'll take it! I'm looking at a Cargomaster Kongo Cage myself. Lower profile, but it has a bend in the rails to clear the soft top bows. Looks funkier than the one you have, for sure. Any idea what brand that rack you have is?
