Wife's Modest KJ Build

Blower motor resistor. Possibly a parts store item, but I had to get the one for our Durango at the dealer. ~$25 IIRC.

Sounds like a good build plan. I'd like to get my wife into a KJ eventually when the price on the diesels come down.

Removing the carpet.....lots of wiring that you would have to deal with and move ( if you could) also LOTS of heat is transmitted up through the floors of the KJ, friend tried it and put the carpet back in. They do make vinyl flooring for them though

My wife had a Liberty and we had a dog that rode in the back before we had kids. I'll second that the floor can get so warm it will *force* your dog to jump over the backseats whether the A/C is on or it's winter outside. We would cover the floor with her over-sized dog beds so she was complete insulated, as a couple sheets or blankets wasn't sufficient.

The heat on the floor is something "dog people" rarely recognize in their SUV's. The Wranglers get even hotter.

I appreciate all the info. I will have to grab that part and get going. I will check in over at those other sites.
I hadnt even thought about floor heat. We have only gone on short trips with the bully and he has been fine. But long distance is probably when it gets hot? I like the dog bed idea. Even then there wont be masses of needle hair in the carpet.
I am still working on pics. Crazy week hunting and getting ready for thanksgiving vacation trip.

Well I finally got around to taking some pics. Those of you who have kids know its takes 10x as long to do anything and I am just now figuring this out :) I still think that Les Schwab put on too small of studded snow tires. Also the pics arent taken on flat ground but I think the back sits a tad lower than the front. I think this had to do with the HD springs in the front? Once a real bumper goes on it should level out correct?

Also I just drove the KJ to Seattle (4 hour trip) and the back of the cargo area wasnt hot at all. I stopped and felt it a couple times because of what was said on here. It was very cold out too though.

measure from the middle of the wheel to the bottom of the flare to see where you sit at front to rear. For reference mines at 23 1/4 front and rear

yours does look lower in the rear you may want to install one or two upper isolators in the rear on each side to level

Well a little update. I fixed the rear sagging problem by getting full length deaver springs in the rear. Sits level now. Got a new roof rack with light bar. Ordered 4 IPF 968 CSG's for it. Also ordered a ARB Bull Bar. Both should be here on the 18th or so. Also added a Kamparoo to tow behind the KJ which will soon be modded also. I will get pics up as soon as I put the bumper and lights on. She looks unlike a minivan now.

What did you have to give for the full length springs? What rate are they? I have been trying to get someone to make some custom springs for me front and rear both

The springs are through RRO. I know everyone has their opinion about this particular company so I leave their name out of it most of the time. I have dealt with them a lot and never had a problem but thats all beside the fact. The springs they sell with their Rockfather II kit, or seperately are from deaver. I got rid of the stupid spacers and tired stock springs. Rides way better and height is all correct now.

Oh I thought you got longer springs than stock or OME 948s sorry.
RRO sells only OME or did until recently I guess?? and they had a few of their own that were longer but did not hold up as well as OME. Knew a couple of people who got them.
I have seen quite a few RROs Rockfather II' and they were all OME ??? Maybe they are trying something different now

No the ome's don't come with the rockfather. And yes the deaver springs I have are longer than stock. They are full 2.5" lift springs. Not sure what their own springs are? But these are deavers.

Have to give them a call, of course 2.5 inch springs are not long enough
